I Was Totally Against Changing The Perfect Game Call. Then I Read the Play-by-Play.

"There's no good reason why Major League Baseball should change Jim Joyce's blown call," I said. "Even though it had been a perfect game, it was still very much a game, and Cleveland was only down by three runs," I said. "There would have only been one out in the ninth, and Detroit's given up bigger leads with two outs remaining," I said.

"Wait, what?"

"Oh, there were already two outs?"

"So the correct call would have ended the game?"

"Well, then…change it. OK."

And then I left the break room, and I slid silently into my office chair.

Also, instant replay is a necessity, now and forever.
